Recently appointed member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Yoni Gertner is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree as a student of Atar Arad at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, where he was also an associate instructor. Previously, Gertner earned a Performer Diploma at the Jacobs School and BA and Master of Music at the Jerusalem Academy under guidance of Hagai Shaham and Michael Gaisler. Yoni has taken part in major music festivals in Europe and in Israel, performed as soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and as a chamber musician collaborated with Joshua Bell, Atar Arad, Hagai Shaham, Rudolph Koelman, Mihaela Martin, Giora Feidman, Kirill Gerstein, the Rubens Quartet, the Israeli Chamber Project, KammerMahler and others. He was a member of the Jerusalem Music Center Young Musicians Program, served in the Israel Defense Force as an outstanding musician and won several prizes in competitions held in the Jerusalem Academy and at the Jacobs school. He is a recipient of the America-Israel cultural foundation scholarship and the Barbara and David Jacobs fellowship. |
