Oded Hadar, cellist

​Recipient of the Audience Choice Prize in the prestigious 2015 Aviv Cello Competition, Israeli cellist Oded Hadar has performed worldwide as both soloist and chamber musician. He has been the recipient of several major scholarships and prizes internationally – including top prizes in both the Turjeman and Young Artist Competitions in Israel, and a 13-year-long scholarship endowment from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. He was also a three-time winner of both the strings and chamber music competitions of the Buchmann Mehta School of Music, a first prize winner of the cello competition at New England Conservatory in Boston, and maintained the prestigious “Outstanding Musician” status during his three years of service in the Israel Defense Forces, concertizing across Israel and France as a result. 
In 2008, he received a special distinction award from Maestro Zubin Mehta, resulting in a solo appearance with the Buchmann Mehta Symphony Orchestra in Tel Aviv’s Smolarz Auditorium under the baton of Maestro Ze'ev

Other solo appearances include performances with the Thelma Yellin Symphony Orchestra, a tour across Hungary with the Kfar Saba Symphony Orchestra, a performance with the New England Conservatory Baroque Ensemble, as well as a performance with the Israel Philharmonic Retiree Symphony Orchestra.

As a chamber musician, Mr. Hadar has collaborated with artists such as Shmuel Ashkenazy, Atar Arad, Rudolf Koelman, and Menahem Breuer. Summer festival appearances include the Perlman Music Program, the Salzburg Music Festival, the Chigiana Academy Festival in Sienna, the Brussels Chamber Music Festival, the Northern Lights Chamber Music Festival, and the Keshet Eilon and the Kefar Blum Music Festivals. As a member of the chamber music ensemble "Manhattan Chamber Players" from 2015 to 2017, Mr. Hadar performed regularly in many of the most prestigious chamber music halls across the US, Israel, and South America, including Carnegie Hall and Tel Aviv Museum. 

Born in Tel Aviv, Mr. Hadar began his cello studies at the age of six. After studying at Tel Aviv University with Hillel Zori, he received his Master's Degree from the New England Conservatory, studying with Paul Katz. After serving for two years on the faculties of Hod-Hasharon Conservatory and Hakfar Hayarok School of Music in Tel Aviv, he now resides in New York City, performing regularly across the US and Israel. Along with his active career as a musician, Mr. Hadar is currently pursuing a master's Degree in clinical psychology at Columbia University in New York City.
